Week two of practice continues to roll on for the ACGC girls basketball team and with it, the second week at the helm for new head basketball coach James Blythe.
Coach Blythe comes in as a first year coach to an ACGC squad commencing with it’s first ever season of Charger basketball which means coach Blythe and his Lady Chargers have more on their plate than just working on basketball skills, but an entire helping of team chemistry building as well.
Coach Blythe and the Lady Chargers have been working hard and have come a long way in just over a weeks time, but as coach Blythe told Raccoon Valley Radio, still one of the biggest challenges facing himself as a new coach with a new team, is developing a new routine.
“I think it’s just the kids getting into a new routine. This coaching staff asks; I don’t know if it’s more but it’s different and so we’re going through different drills and we’re running a different offense. We’re probably asking them to do a little different things on defense,” stated coach Blythe.
Coach Blythe also noted to Raccoon Valley Radio how it’s a learning experience for both parties involved and that his players have the desire to be coached.
Like I say, it’s a learning experience and it’s an adjustment but the kids are working real hard and learning fast. The thing I like about them the most is that they really want to get coached up and so we’re making good strides,” explained coach Blythe.
Just one more day before all the hard work for the Lady Chargers is put on display as they take to the road tomorrow to partake in a Jamboree contest at Audubon high school beginning at 6:00 pm.
