Perry senior Kyle Nevitt had a tough choice when it came down to narrowing what he wanted to do at the next level. Nevitt has been a 2 time All Conference performer in basketball during the winter months along with being a 2x all conference performer the past 2 summers in baseball. Nevitt decided on the path of baseball and signed a National Letter of Intent Monday morning to play next year at DMACC.
“I love both sports. It was really a hard decision. I think a sense of reality came into the equation and I felt like I had the best shot in the sport of baseball to take it to the next level and that’s why I am here today.”
Like his fellow Bluejay a few moments earlier, Nevitt credited Perry Coach Mike Long with a number of personal improvements.
“I think the first thing is that he taught me how to take a strong mental approach into the game. He really helped me fundamentally with my swing and cutting down my long stride at the plate and shortening up my swing. He also worked hard with me on the mental approach and to remain focused on the mound when things aren’t going your way or your not getting the calls you want from the umpire.”
Nevitt and Puente both indicated that their final goal at Perry will be to try and qualify for the state tournament this summer.
