Perry’s Janier Puente was very emotional and appreciative Monday when he signed his letter of intent to play baseball next year at DMACC in Boone.  The power hitting right hander thanked long time Head Coach Mike Long for all of the work and patience he showed him the past 3 years.

“I owe a lot to Coach (Long),” smiled Puente.  “I wasn’t always mentally tough.  When I was younger, I lacked a certain mental toughness.  Coach has really instilled that into me and I will always be grateful.  I feel like I have grown not only as a baseball player but also as a person.  I feel like I am prepared for anything when I leave Perry high school.”

Puente led the Bluejays in virtually every offensive category this past season.
