Jefferson Matters: Main Street is hosting a new fun-raiser on Saturday.
Family Feud: Jefferson Edition will be held at History Boy Theatre on Saturday. It starts with appetizers from local downtown restaurants at 6:30pm, followed by the program at 7:30pm. JMMS Program Director Peg Raney says the four teams that will compete includes Mom Jeans 4 Life, Bunkers Dunkers, Cardigan Crew from the Greene County Schools and the Righteous Sisters. The public participated during the Bell Tower Festival in June answering different survey questions about Jefferson that will be used in Saturday’s event.
One of the competitors from, Mom Jeans 4 Life, Bonnie Silbaugh explains how their team was formed.
“We actually have a moms group that meets once a month and there was a mom that wanted to be apart of this. She put a call out to the other moms to see if any of us were interested and a bunch of us replied back that we were. And so the team Mom Jeans 4 Life came to life.”
For Phyllis Bunkers, being on Family Feud has been a lifelong dream.
“That’s kind of one of those things where you go ‘Okay, that’s kind of a pipedream, it’s probably not going to happen.’ But when Peg (Raney) came into the bakery and she started telling me about Family Feud and I said, ‘So do you have teams lined up?’ And she said, ‘Well no, not yet.’ Well I said, ‘We want to be a team,’ without even consulting the family, I just said, ‘We’ll be a team.’”
Tickets are $25 with a limit of 125 tickets. They are available at the Jefferson Matters office, The Printer’s Box and Bunkers Dunkers.
All proceeds will go back to Jefferson Matters for future projects.
You can hear more about the event today on the Community State Bank in Paton Let’s Talk Greene County program.
