Wellmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield recently awarded grant funds to two Greene County projects.

The Community Kickstarter grant program gave $10,000 to the Grand Junction swimming pool repair fund and $10,000 to the playground equipment improvement project in Scranton.

The Grand Junction swimming pool was closed before summer due to having to make repairs. The Grand Junction Horizons Club is also having a fundraiser this weekend with their Jingle Into Junction event with a silent auction and soup and sandwich, free-will offering meal on Sunday.

The grant awarded to the City of Scranton is to make repairs and upgrades to the current playground equipment, but also to install safety measures around the equipment as well. The Wellmark grant doubles the amount that the City has raised so far.

The Community Kickstarter grant program funded $491,682 to 53 projects in Iowa and South Dakota focused on making communities more active or improving access to healthy foods.
