When you think of 4-H, you typically think about it being a youth-driven organization, but adult volunteers play a key aspect to the success of the program as well.
Guthrie County Extension Youth Coordinator Mollie Clark says they honored three adults at their recent 4-H Awards Night. The Honorary 4-H Member Award went to Pat Wyatt, who is the dog superintendent, for his efforts to grow the dog project. The Friend of 4-H Award went to Panorama Gardens this year. Clark says they are deserving of the honor.
“They give lots of tours. We have Clover Kids, and clubs and county-wide tours at their facility. But they also are helping with workshops and donating to different events and woodworking workshops that we held. They helped us build up our garden challenge this year.”
The final adult 4-H award went to Carolyn Schwartz for the 4-H Alumni Award for her 20 years of adult volunteerism and leadership in the 4-H program.
Clark would also like to thank everyone who was involved in helping to put on this year’s awards ceremony.
