perry logoThe City of Perry continues to work on inspecting and repairing the sanitary sewer system.

The fifth pay request and final acceptance of the most recent phase of the project were approved by the City Council at their meeting this week.

Deputy Public Works Director Josh Wuebker says Accujet is cameraing and jetting around 60,000 feet of sewer line this year alone.  The town was broken into 11 different stages and after this fall there will only be three left to complete.

“They’ll run a jetting machine through there, clean the sanitary sewer out, suck all the debris that they’re getting out of there, and then they’re running a camera to look for defects and stuff.  The phase they did last year, there was probably eight areas or so that they found where there were pieces of main missing or a hole in the pipe. We had a contractor come, dig down to that pipe and replace that.  So whatever we find, we want to fix.”

Wuebker says they also fixed a few intakes this year.  Anything found on this last phase of the year that is deemed an emergency will be addressed right away, minor repairs will wait until spring.
