There’s more positive news here in the Raccoon River Valley in terms of the number of local residents without a job.
According to Iowa Workforce Development, Dallas County’s unemployment rate dropped two-tenths of a percent in October to 2.7 percent. Greene County’s unemployment decreased by three-tenths to 2.5 percent last month and Guthrie also saw a three-tenths of a percent drop to 3.2 percent in October.
Dallas County’s latest rate is still two-tenths higher than this time last year, where Greene County’s is steady with October 2015 figures and Guthrie’s is currently half a percent higher than last year.
The statewide unemployment rate dropped slightly to 4.1 percent last month.
