A reminder for all motorists that increased law enforcement will be out this weekend to wrap up the current special Traffic Enforcement Program through the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
Guthrie County Chief Deputy Jeremy Bennett says they are participating in the sTEP Wave and they will be looking for impaired drivers. Their goal is to have zero fatalities on the road during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Bennett says law enforcement agencies that participate each sTEP Wave also receives funding from GTSB.
“We’ll get a grant that might buy us a piece of equipment that helps. It could be a intoxilyzers that go in our cars, or it could a speed trailer, it could be radars. Anything that would help do the job and provide safety.”
The sTEP Wave continues through November 27th.
