A local pharmacy and a national organization are coming together to help area smokers develop a way to quit.
Sumpter Pharmacy in Adel and the American Lung Association are hosting a free community event on Tuesday, December 6th. Tobacco Control Coordinator Alyssa Reichelt explains.
“There are quit smoking classes at local hospitals in Des Moines but there aren’t any one time events where you can come and get an overview type of thing. So that’s why we’re excited to host this one time, community event on how to put together a quit plan and a chance to ask the experts. Then it will also give tobacco users a chance to kind of talk about what worked for them in the past and get advice from fellow tobacco users.”
The program takes place in the Adel Public Library’s community room from 5:30-7pm. A free dinner will be served and there will be giveaways and door prizes.
Registration is required. To reserve your spot call 993-1119.
