The Greene County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Scranton Fire Department with a structure fire at 900 Stanton Street in Scranton. The home that is owned by Doyle Roberts sustained major damage to the kitchen area and smoke damage to the entire home. The origin of the fire was determined to be electrical.

A deputy was assisted by an Iowa State Patrol Officer in responding to an out of control juvenile female residing in the 900 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction.

A deputy was advised of a harassment concern in the 200 block of Cartwright Street in Rippey.

Deputies assisted Iowa State Troopers with investigating a single vehicle accident that occurred in the 1100 block of 290th Street. A semi-tractor trailer was westbound on 290th Street when it struck the south guard rail of the bridge, causing the semi to go into the creek. Greene County EMS transported the driver to the Greene County Medical Center and then he was airlifted to Des Moines. The Jefferson Fire Department and DNR Environmental personnel were also on scene due to the fuel spill into the water. The Iowa State Patrol was in charge of investigating the accident.

Deputies were on other assignments and unable to locate a reported erratic driver on Highway 30 near S Avenue.

A deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction to help mediate a verbal domestic altercation.

A deputy was asked to check the welfare of a female hitchhiker that was walking along the roadway on Highway 30 east of Jefferson. She was given a ride to the Sparky’s One Stop for her safety.

A deputy was dispatched to the 100 block of Howard Street in Rippey to help with a distraught juvenile male that was threatening to injure himself. The deputy transported the male subject to the Greene County Medical Center for an evaluation.

A deputy was advised of a minor backing accident that occurred at the Casey’s General Store parking lot in Scranton.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
