Behind the scenes work continues for Jefferson’s downtown revitalization project.

City Administrator Mike Palmer says the architect, Franks Design Group, has met with each of the 16 building owners that are involved in the project three separate times and they are putting on the final details of what each business’s facades will look.

“The architect has been out to Jefferson numerous times now, actually going into buildings and crawling back into crawl spaces and up and overhangs to see exactly what is there to finish up these plans.”

The City Council recently approved a $100,000 contract with Franks Design Group for their architectural services.  

The City received a $500,000 matching grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority through the Community Development Block Grant in May.

Bids for a contractor will go out in January or February with construction to begin sometime next spring.
