Today is the special referendum election for the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association.

All cattle owners are encouraged to go to the polls today and vote either for or against a $.50 assessed value per head of cattle that are sold in Iowa. The rate will be collected by livestock auction markets, packers and others.

Money raised from the Iowa Beef Checkoff will go toward marketing and promoting Iowa’s beef and beef products; enhancing Iowa’s beef industry image; additional production research; expanding international trade relationships; and providing producer, consumer and youth educational opportunities.

For Greene County cattle owners, the polls are open today from 8am to 4:30pm at the Greene County Extension office in Jefferson.
