david-yepsenA Jefferson native and well-known political journalist was recently announced as the new host of Iowa Public Television’s Iowa Press.

David Yepsen will take over as the Iowa Press host, following the retirement of long-time host Dean Borg, early next year.

Yepsen was born and raised in Jefferson and worked as a government and politics reporter for the Des Moines Register for 32 years. He’s been a frequent guest panelist on Iowa Press since the late 1970s and appeared on several network programs including PBS NewsHour, as well as CNN, Fox, MSNBC and CSPAN. He recently retired as the director of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University.

IPTV Foundation Board Member Jacque Andrew says she was pleased with announcement and thought that Yepsen was the best fit for the job.

“He’s a long-time, well respected political reporter and analyst and he has a wealth of knowledge. So I can’t image really anyone better suited to be the moderator of Iowa Press.”

Yepsen will officially take over as host and moderator of Iowa Press on January 20th.
