Greene County wrestlers opened the 2016-17 season on Tuesday night in Ogden with losses to Ogden and the combined Van Meter/Earlham program. Tonight, the Rams go to Carroll High to face the host Tigers and the Winterset Huskies. Greene County meets Carroll at 5:30 p.m., then Carroll goes against Winterset, followed by the Rams and Winterset.

Although now 0-2 on the season, Coach Mark Sawhill’s team has already accomplished something the 2015-16 squad wasn’t able to do; fill more than seven of the 14 weight classes. Tuesday night the Rams had someone in 12 of the 14 weight classes. Many of those in the lineup on opening night were inexperienced, but filling all, or most, of the weight classes, is key to winning dual meets.

After tonight, the Rams travel to Grimes on Saturday for the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustang Invitational.
