Today is the big day for the ADM wrestling team as they officially kick off their 2016-2017 season with a road match up this evening.
Under the direction of head coach Justin Schmauss, the Tiger wrestling team will partake in their annual contest in Huxley for their opening meet taking on Ballard and North Polk high schools. The Tigers will be in the hunt to break the three year opening meet win less drought against Ballard, seeking their first win against the Bombers since the 2012-2013 season.
The Tigers will lean on the experience from three of the five wrestlers to take a win against Ballard last season, two of whom were state tournament qualifiers Nolan Harsh and Andrew Flora, along with district qualifier Chris Johnston. Those three were part of a group who put up more points against the Bombers than the prior two seasons increasing from 24 points in 2013 and 22 points in 2014 to 28 points against the Bombers last season.
Ballard and North Polk will battle it out first starting things off at 5:30 with ADM to follow in the next two matches taking on North Polk at 6:45 followed by the much anticipated rematch against the Ballard Bombers beginning at 8:00 pm from Ballard High School.
