Tonight will be the second double header of the season for the newly formed ACGC girls and boys basketball teams. They will be welcoming in Ogden high school for a West Central Activities Conference match up, beginning with the girls game at 6:00 pm and the boys to follow at 7:30.
The Lady Chargers are coming off of a nail biting win against Madrid on Tuesday where they pulled out a 38-37 victory. ACGC will look to accomplish what the former Guthrie Center team could do only once in the past three seasons which would be to take a win against the Lady Bulldogs. Guthrie Center totaled a 1-5 record in three seasons, something that the 2016-2017 1-1 Charger squad looks to change tonight. They will be led by the three headed scoring machine for ACGC in juniors Madison Berger and Morgan Meacham along with senior Leigan Laughery. Combined those three have averaged 25.5 points per game through the first two contests.
On the other side of the ball, it will be the ACGC boys basketball team who will seek a bounce back win tonight after a 30-54 defeat to Madrid high school on Tuesday. The boys side is also looking to erase the past history of Guthrie Center against Ogden as the former Guthrie Center team went winless against the Bulldogs in the past three seasons. They too will look for a change and they will do so behind ACGC’s primary scoring threat from game one in sophomore Noah Nelson. Nelson put up 11 points, went 3-6 from the floor, 3-5 from beyond the arc while converting half of his free throws.
The ACGC double header will kick off tonight at home as the Lady Chargers will play first at 6:00 and the boys to follow from Guthrie Center at 7:30 pm.
