Last night was the season opener for the ADM Tiger wrestling team as they took to the road in Huxley to square off against the hometown Ballard Bombers along with North Polk high school.

It was a hard fought event and when the dust settled the Tigers came away with a 1-1 record to start their season.

The first game for the Tigers was against North Polk high school where they cruised to a decisive 54-16 victory. In all nine ADM wrestlers took wins against the Comets which was divided up into 4 wins by forfeit and 5 wins by fall. Andrew Flora, Leo Tauke, Cooper Mardesen, and Jacob Pfiffner took wins by forfeit while John Thome, Hogan Hopewell, Nolan Harsh, Caleb Buse, and Luke Huen all took wins by fall.

In the much anticipated rematch against the Bombers in their second match, ADM fought hard but couldn’t quite come out victorious falling to Ballard 57-23. Andrew Flora, John Thome, Caleb Buse, and Kaden Sutton all took wins for the Tigers in that match. Flora, Thome, and Sutton all earned wins by fall while Caleb Buse earned his win by technical fall.

Coach Justin Schmauss and his now 1-1 Tiger wrestling team will have a quick turnaround as they are back in competition on the road to Dallas Center-Grimes to face off in the DC-G Invitational tomorrow. The Tigers will be part of a 12 team field that includes the likes of two other Raccoon River Conference schools in Carlisle and Carroll. Tomorrow’s invitational for the Tigers will commence at 10:00 am from DCG Meadows Gym.
