The Greene County High School basketball teams face the North Polk squads in Alleman tonight on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage on the air starts at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow.
The NP girls have already played four games and they have a 2-2 overall record and are 1-1 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. The Greene County girls are 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in the league after losses earlier this week to Ogden in Jefferson and to CMB in Baxter. This is the third conference game for Coach Dean Lyons’ team and all three are away from home. Coach Lyons told Raccoon Valley Radio after the loss to CMB that leading scorer Laurin Lyons will miss the NP contest after hitting her head on the court late in the game and undergoing concussion protocol.
On the boys’ side, the Rams are 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference after wins vs. Ogden and CMB. They’ve put up 77 and 94 points in the first two games. The Comets lost at home to Nevada on Tuesday to open the season. NP allowed the Cubs just 56 points, but only scored 36 themselves. NP plays their first six boys’ games at home, then goes on the road for seven straight later in the season.
