Sophomore Trey Hinote had a career night on Tuesday vs. Roland-Story (Story City) and he led Greene County to a 71-47 victory in the middle school gym in Jefferson in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference boys’ basketball. Hinote scored 27 points and knocked down seven three-point goals, both career bests. The shooting guard also made all six of his free throw attempts and finished seven of 12 from the floor. He was seven of 11 on three’s. Senior Trey Tucker had all 19 of his points in the first half, including four three-pointers, and the Rams finished 12 of 27 from long range. They were 26 of 54 overall from the floor and seven of 10 shooting free throws. Junior Wade Adcock had 10 points with eight from sophomore Lance Hughes and seven for senior Thomas Jacobsen to round out the Greene County scoring. The Rams were charged with 15 turnovers as they improved to 3-0 in the conference and 4-0 overall.

R-S (2-2, 1-2) had 12 points from junior Mitchell Shorkey as 11 players scored at least one point. The Norsemen went 17 of 49 overall including six of 25 on three-point shots. They were seven of 13 from the foul line and had 20 turnovers.

The Rams led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter, then won the second quarter by a 30-9 count for a 44-18 halftime lead. The advantage grew to 28 points early in the third before R-S trimmed it to 17, but that’s as close as they were able to get.
