rep_BaltimoreWith the announcement Iowa Governor Terry Branstad tabbed as President-Elect Donald Trump’s new US ambassador to China, reactions are taking place across the state.

District 47 Representative Chip Baltimore shares his reaction with Raccoon Valley Radio.

“We I think it’s a fantastic opportunity not only for the governor, but for the entire state of Iowa. Nobody really in the United States has the kind of relationship with the President of China that Governor Branstad has. I think Iowa as a state will benefit greatly. I look forward to seeing what the possible opportunities will be for us.”

Branstad will remain as Governor of Iowa when the upcoming legislative session begins on January 9th. If Branstad gets Senate approval, then Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds will likely become Iowa’s next governor and the first female governor in the state’s history.
