It was a successful showing for the ADM Tiger wrestling last night at the Gilbert Quadrangular as they took on Gilbert, Collins-Maxwell-Baxter, and Greene County high schools.
The quadrangular was divided up into three separate rounds and for the Tigers, round one consisted of a match up with Greene County high school. The Tigers wrestled well against a solid Rams squad and took the win by the final tally of 64-11. The match consisted of 12 wins total against the Rams for ADM. The charge was started at the 106 lb weight class where class 2A’s preseason 9th ranked wrestler Andrew Flora earned a 16-1 technical fall at the 1:23 mark. The 12 victories against Greene County consisted of 7 by way of fall, 2 by technical fall, 2 wins by decision, and one forfeit.
In their round two match up the Tigers would take on CMB where they would earn their second win on the night by the final score of 57-12. There were 10 wins total against CMB broken down into 4 by fall, 5 by forfeit, and one 7-0 decision. Returning state qualifiers Andrew Flora and Nolan Harsh led the way in that contest, both with wins by fall.
The final match of the night for ADM was against the hometown Gilbert Tigers in a battle of two Tiger teams. It was the best match saved for last as it went down to the wire with ADM just edging out their Gilbert counter parts by one point 34-33. ADM earned five wins via forfeit, one win by fall, two wins by decision, and one win by major decision. Andrew Flora, Kinnick Sutton, and Nolan Harsh led the way in the quadrangular for the Tigers notching wins in each of their three matches.
Up next for ADM will be a quick turnaround tomorrow heading to the Grinnell Duals, an event in which the Tigers won last year and looking to make it two in a row tomorrow. The meet will commence from Grinnell high school beginning at 10:00 am.
