The City of Perry is hoping that going out for bid a second time will provide financial savings on another project next year.
Engineer Matt Ferrier says the Willis Avenue bridge project is primarily funded through the Iowa Department of Transportation and the first bid letting resulted in high quotes. They have since made changes and will try again.
“We’re making some modifications to the plan and we’ll re-let that this winter. The goal is to use basically a galvanized structure with a road slab surface and hopefully we’ll be installing that new structure in June.”
Ferrier says the sanitary sewer improvements that the City recently did in that area will actually help the cost of the bridge project.
