With “feels like” temperatures in the single digits this week it has undoubtedly been too cold to spend much time outside, especially if you’re not properly covered.
Officers with the Perry Police Department use some of the money that is donated to the Shop with a Cop program to help make sure local kids are warm both inside and out.
“Also with that money we do Stocking Hat and Gloves where we go to the schools and hand out stocking hats and gloves to the kids. Usually we do 25 families for Shop with a Cop, besides those 25 families we’ll also go out and get like gift cards and there’s other families that maybe didn’t get picked for Shop with a Cop, but those families also get helped in another way with the gift cards” says Detective Sergeant Jerome Hill.
Anyone who would like to donate to the program can do so by dropping off a cash or check at the Perry public safety building.
