Las Posadas takes place tonight in Perry.
The traditional celebration starts with an ecumenical service at the First Christian Church at 6pm. Attendees will then go on a procession on 2nd Street while caroling and looking for shelter like Mary and Joseph when trying to find a place to birth baby Jesus. It ends at the First United Methodist Church with dinner and celebrating.
“The dinner, which is always a big hit, at 7 o’clock at the church it’s going to be pork birria which is a delicious dish, with rice and beans and tortillas. This year we’re asking for a free will donation and the money collected with help go toward the Hispanics United for Perry scholarships that we give out in the spring.”
That’s HUP member Jon Wolseth who says the event is open to everyone.
