The Jefferson Rotary Club recently heard a presentation about a special athletic program.
Adaptive Sports Iowa Director Mike Boone talked about the program that provides leadership in planning, promotion, education and organization of sports and recreation opportunities for Iowans with disabilities. He talks about the different impacts their program has.
“We try to use sport as a tool to enact change and really impact quality of life. We’ve found that sport is a great opportunity for us to do that. We’ve also noticed when you take an individual with a physical disability and put them in an environment where they can be active and compete and participate, anyone who’s able to view or spectate in that environment is also impacted equally.”
