The Perry Community Christmas Dinner committee is in great need of more volunteers this weekend.

Last year the group served nearly 400 people and the goal is to keep increasing that number annually. Organizer Deb Miller says it’s a fun event for all involved.

“Just come for the day, I mean you’ll see the excitement, the spirit.  You know, we’re all on one page for the day.  You know, we’re all serving and the people there that are eating.  We’re all just one big group and it’s just amazing how you get to feel.  I mean I have people now that say ‘This is our Christmas’, they get right in on it right away.  It is that giving spirit that you feel.”

Volunteers are especially needed to help out the second shift of the day from 12:30-2:30pm.  Anyone who is willing to assist is asked to contact Miller at 465-3740.

The meal is served at the Perry Elks Lodge from 11-1:30pm Sunday.  There’s no cost to attend and any donations will be passed on to the local food pantry.
