The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
At the meeting, payroll change notices for the the assessor’s office, sheriff’s office, secondary roads department and community services department were approved as presented.
Design Alliance Architect Jerry Purdy reported that the 902 Court Street building continues to move forward on schedule. Purdy says they’re also still holding retainage on the north campus project until the remaining items are completed.
The Board then approved a highway safety improvement program grant for F90 from Bulgar Creek bridge east to Highway 169 in the amount of $64,000. Engineer Al Miller says they plan to go out for bid in April and he expects work to start in August. The DOT will fund up to $130,000 for the project, depending on bids.
A second highway safety improvement program grant for F31 from Kimble Place to the City of Minburn was then approved. The grant will up to 130 percent of the preliminary estimated cost of $295,000.
A motor grater purchase was then approved. Despite receiving a lower bid for a John Deere vehicle, the Board approved a bid from Ziegler Cat in Altoona in the amount of $65,151 after trade in and the buy-back program.
The official E911 county map was approved as presented. It will hang in the Supervisors meeting room, as requested by Sheriff Chad Leonard.
The Supervisors then discussed the proposed new law enforcement center. Purdy shared information on the minor design changes that have been made to make the building less expensive and simplify the look. Operations Administrator Rob Tietz says the Samuels Group projects the proposed facility will cost around $21.3 million depending on heating system and other options. No action was taken but the Supervisors will again talk about this at next week’s meeting.
Lorinda Inman was reappointed to the conservation board for a term through 2021. Donna Julseth, Jon Hoy, Brian Eiteman, Mark Hanson and Lorinda Inman were appointed to the historic preservation commission for terms through 2019 and several township trustees were approved for terms through 2020.
Finally, a proclamation in regards to School Choice Week January 22nd-28th was approved.
