With the end of the West Central Activities Conference dual tournament this past Saturday, it marked the official end for Wildcat wrestling in 2016.
The Wildcats under the direction of first year head wrestling coach Ethan Calvert enter the break with a 9-9 dual team record so far on the season. Like most teams, coach Calvert looks to use the holiday break to revitalize his Wildcat squad who is a little banged up at the break.
“They’ll come into the break here and one of our big points is that we have a lot of guys banged up; we’ve been getting after it for pretty much the last month in terms of tough competition. Giving them a few days off here. Giving them a few days off to rest up. Then we’ll get back in the swing of things here after Christmas,” explained coach Calvert.
Next on the docket for the Wildcat wrestling team won’t be until January 3rd when they kick off their first home meet of the season welcoming in East Union, Woodward-Granger, and Exira-Elk-Horn-Kimbalton high schools beginning at 5:30 pm.
