Every high school basketball team heading into the holiday break will have things coaches have liked and things to work on.

For the ACGC Charger boys basketball team, they don’t have to look far on the docket to see their first item of improvement which would simply be to improve their shooting. The Chargers have been steadily progressing from the beginning of the season from 89 total points through the first three games now heading into the break having scored 125 points through their last three games.

Still, as head boys basketball coach Jake Mohling told Raccoon Valley Radio, the Chargers biggest need for improvement still resides in overall shooting, explaining how better shooting will help improve both sides of the ball.

“We have to make shots. Can’t win games shooting 45% from the free throw line although that has gotten better in the last three games. We’re getting good looks, we’re just not putting the ball in the hole and this game is really hard to play when you can’t score because then you have to be almost perfect on the defensive end, rebounding, and turnover game and we are not perfect in those areas. Missing shots really takes a tole so we have to find ways to make the shots that we’re getting,” explained coach Mohling.

The Chargers next chance to display any improvements will be a January 3rd match up after the break. They will be hitting the road in a tough conference match up against Van Meter and will be game two of the girl/boy double header with the boys game set to commence at 7:30 pm.
