The ADM Tiger wrestling team arrives back on the practice mats this week as they prepare up for the 2017 portion of the new season campaign.
The last time the Tiger wrestling squad hit the competitive scene was back at the competitive Battle Of Waterloo. ADM was involved in Bracket C where they took 7th place overall and in pool 7 where the Tigers placed fourth. Raccoon Valley Radio sat down with Tiger head wrestling coach Justin Schmauss as he gave his take on his team’s overall performance in the Battle Of Waterloo.
“There was a lot of positives going out of that tournament. We go up there to wrestle tough competition and we definitely got that first round facing Denver (Tripoli). They had some ranked kids that matched up well with our kids. They got some tests and some challenges and that’s what I liked about them, they responded well to them. They fought in every match and it was good experience overall for the entire team. There’s some guys that definitely kinda came on and showed that they weren’t going to give up. It was a good for our guys, they get tested early in the season where they can still learn from mistakes and grow from them,” explained coach Schmauss.
The Tigers won’t have far to travel for their first competitive action in 2017, in fact they won’t have to travel at all as they open up the new year with a home meet on January 5th taking on the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs. That meet will also be the meet the Tigers honor their seniors with senior night.
