The Guthrie County Supervisors recently sold property to a private entity.
Chair Mike Dickson says the Board approved to convey and sell 29.888-acres to Brenda Rose and Firefly Creek Ranch. He says the area sat vacant for over two years and he describes what the plans are for the property.
“In the past it was a mental health facility with people with mental illnesses would go and it was a working farm at one time for those mental health patients. Now it’s going to be more of a retirement and assisted living community. They want to fix up the barns out there and kind of have a working farm out there for retirees and assisted living.”
The new venture will allow residents to help contribute at a level they feel comfortable at. They are also a non-medical facility, meaning that any nursing, medication management, therapies and health related services would be contracted out. There will also be several activities for residents to enjoy.
Dickson believes this was a good choice to sell their property to because it also gives employment opportunities, with as many as ten staff members to be hired.
