There are just four returning letter winners for the Greene County High School wrestling team. Among those are seniors Hunter Ruth and Isaiah Yoder, plus juniors Cayden Gerdes and Isaac Ireland. The other 13 squad members are either freshman or sophomores and juniors with little or no previous wrestling experience.

Gerdes is at 132 lbs. and has put up a winning record to this point of the season. He seen himself improve quite a bit since his freshman season and he was asked how it is having so many younger wrestlers in the room. “It’s been pretty good. Obviously, a lot of them are not as experienced as Hunter, Isaiah, and myself, but overall they’re doing fairly well.”

The Rams are practicing during the break in competition in preparation for the second half of the season. A quadrangular in the middle school gym in Jefferson was scheduled just last week for Jan. 3. The Rams will be hosting Belmond-Klemme, Denison-Schleswig, and Ft. Dodge St. Edmond.
