img_3664As we’ve reported, eighth grade language arts students at West Central Valley Middle School have spent the past semester focusing on conflicts happening on the other side of the world.

Hanna Wilson is teaching her students about the war in Syria and how their writing can help make a difference.

Student Bodhi Mains explains why he feels his teacher chose this topic.

“Because a lot of people are so busy in their own little worlds that they don’t realize what is going on outside and how much people have it worse.  She wants people to be more aware of things happening in Syria and that we shouldn’t just let it happen.  We should at least do something and this shows how our writing can do just as much as going out there and fighting.”

We sat down with Mains and several of his classmates to talk about the project.  You can hear more from them on today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
