Eighth grade students in Hanna Wilson’s language arts class at West Central Valley Middle School know more about the Syrian civil war than many adults do.
They’ve been studying the conflict for the past several months and recently turned in newspaper type articles about a topic of their choice.
The students say they learned several lessons that will help them be more well rounded people.
“Before, I didn’t really care about stuff happening around the world but now I know that like, when you write about something it can impact someone’s life and if you think about a book you’ve read it kind of might change the way you think about something. Just like someone’s writing can change the way you think about something else.”
That’s eighth grader Mikayla Hanner. We will hear more from her and nine other classmates on today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
