A new individual took over as the Guthrie County Auditor.
Wisconsin native Marci McClellan was elected in November as the new Guthrie County Auditor. An attorney by trade, McClellan has about 20 years of governmental experience. After receiving her law degree from Creighton University, she worked in the city arena as city attorney for Pacific Junction. She then worked as assistant county attorney for Mills and Fremont counties, before serving two terms as Mills County Attorney. She then relocated to Guthrie County two years ago to be closer to her husband’s family.
She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she’s excited to be back working in county government.
“Well I’m very excited about getting back into the courthouse setting, getting back into public service. I very much look forward to working with the citizens of Guthrie County. And the adventure of now working in the auditor’s office or being the Guthrie County Auditor.”
She describes an initial challenge with her new job.
“You need to get up to speed very quickly on getting everything in order for the budget and the budgeting process because the budget needs to be certified by the middle of March. So there’s not a lot of, I guess you would say lag time, it’s pretty much hit the ground running and work on the budget.”
McClellan ran unopposed for the county auditor seat in the November election after former auditor Jerri Christman announced that she was retiring at the end of 2016.
