isu extensionThe Dallas County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach office invites parents to come learn how to reinforce or improve bonds with their youth.

The Strengthening Families program is for parents of kids ages 10 to 14.  It’s a seven week, skills building program for both kids and parents.  The parent sessions will touch on problem solving approaches, communicating effectively and loving methods to set limits. Youth will learn about how to deal with stress, set goals and handle peer pressure.

The first half of each session separates the parents from the children, while the second hour families will interact together through various activities.

It starts January 16th and runs each Monday through February 20th from 6-8pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Perry.  Meetings are offered in both English and Spanish and a free meal will be offered at 5:30 each week.

There’s no cost to attend, but registration is required by today.  To sign up, call Rosa Gonzalez at 490-2298 or email her at rdegonza@iastate.edu
