Improvement was the theme of the day for the ADM Tiger wrestling team on Saturday as the participated in the annual Gary Christensen Invitational in Winterset.
In all inside a 16 team field, ADM witness six of their on make it onto their respective medal stands with the majority of them improving on their work from last season. Sophomore standouts Andrew Flora (106 lbs) and Nolan Harsh (138 lbs) led the charge proving how crucial experience is. Flora improved from his 5th place finish a year prior to acquiring a 3rd place finish on Saturday while Nolan Harsh also showed vast improvement after earning a 7th place finish last year turned into a 2nd place finish in the 2017 go round. Chris Johnston (152 lbs) made great strides as well improving two spots from his 8th place finish last season while Caleb Buse (145 lbs) had another top 5 finish placing 4th on the day.
New comers onto the stage from last season started out with 132 lb Hogan Hopewell picking up several wins to place 5th overall. Cooper Mardesen (220 lbs) rounded out the ADM Tigers with top finishes with his six place finish.
A more than solid outing for head coach Justin Schmauss and his Tiger squad, something they will look to spring off of when they hit the competitive mats once again next Saturday. There the Tigers will seek to defend their home mats against a 9 team field at the annual Tiger invitational. Again that won’t start back up until next week Saturday (January 14th) beginning at 10:00 am.
