District 10 State Senator Jake Chapman says things are quite different this year with his party having control of the Senate, House and Governor’s office.
The Adel Republican says they hit the ground running last week, filing four bills on day one.
“Senate file one is a bill that requires, when new administrative rules come out, that department fills out a form that basically notifies us of what the job impact is going to be to Iowans. Senate file two is the bill that would prevent taxpayer money from going to any abortion clinics. Then we filed two Senate joint resolutions. So Senate joint resolution one is a 99 percent spending limitation. Senate joint file number two, that right would be to purchase, acquire, carry, transfer, transport, all those rights, and utilize guns.”
Chapman says the joint files need to pass through two general assemblies so the soonest they would be on the ballot before Iowans would be two years from now.
We’ll hear more from him on today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program.
