While other Guthrie County wrestling teams were in action with tournament action, the ACGC Charger wrestling team was involved in a dual tournament with the Kuemper Catholic Duals on Saturday.
The Chargers were involved in 5 matches and came away with a 2-3 record to place 4th overall. Round one consisted of a match up against Storm Lake earning 5 wins in all but fell 58-24. Their second match up was a 41-36 victory over Audubon with 7 wins, 6 of which came by way of forfeit. The Chargers then followed that up with a match three victory over Johnston 46-29 which included 8 wins for the Chargers. ACGC’s next two match ups in matches 4 and 5 fell in the category of losses for the Chargers: a 47-32 defeat at the hands of Kuemper-Catholic while their final match up came against Missouri Valley. In their final match up against class 1A’s second ranked team, the Chargers fell 60-13.
Logan Scheuermann was the lone Charger who went undefeated on the day with two wins via forfeit, two wins by tech fall, a 1-0 decision, and a 14-2 major decision win. The Chargers now improve their overall dual meet record to 9-15 and will now be hitting the road for their next meet on Tuesday heading to South Central Calhoun high school taking on Greene County and South Central Calhoun. That meet will begin at 6:00 pm.
