With icy conditions today in the Raccoon Valley Radio Network area, the jobs of area schools activities directors are becoming more difficult. Take Greene County for example. The Rams were iced out of varsity basketball last Tuesday in Jefferson with PCM (Monroe). As of 8 a.m. today, Activities Director Dean Lansman said no makeup date had been scheduled, but he’s hopeful a makeup date can soon be agreed upon. It’s Heart of Iowa Activities Conference basketball and both boys’ teams and the PCM girls are just one game out of first place in the conference standings, so getting the games made up would seem to be important at this stage of the season.
Greene County was to have hosted Winterset in non-conference girl/boy basketball tonight, but both Greene County and Winterset have cancelled all evening activities. Coach Lansman told Raccoon Valley Radio that if a mutual date can be found, the games would be made up, but making up conference games takes priority for both districts.
The Greene County basketball teams are scheduled to be home Tuesday night as well, with HOIAC rival North Polk (Alleman) visiting the middle school gym in Jefferson.
