The ADM Tiger basketball teams took the court Friday night looking for a pair of bounce back wins against a pair of conference leaders, the Boone Toreadors.

The Lady Tigers endured a rough second half leading to a Boone victory 46-37 while in the boys contest, the Tigers held on in a late thriller for a five point victory 70-65.

What has been a more than solid aspect for the Lady Tigers was brought to a whole other level Friday night as the ADM defense practically shut down the conferences second best scoring offense in the Lady Toreadors through one half of play. Boone came into the night averaging 27 first half points but was limited to just 18 in the first half Friday night, thanks in large part to ADM limiting touches inside the paint. That in effect limited Boone’s leading scorer, Calire Sadvig averaging 17 points per game to just 8 through the half. The Lady Tigers actually led at the end of one quarter 11-6 before they went to the intermission tied at 18. Similar to Tuesday’s game, ADM had an OK second half but multiple scoring runs for Boone allowed the Lady Toreadors to hold a 35-28 lead at the end of three and ending with the 46-37 final. Sophomore Emma Jacobsen had her first big breakout game of the year erupting for a team high 13 points on the night for ADM which was followed by Sydney Bertman with 10 points. Delaney Bertman led the way off the class for ADM  hauling in 4 rebounds. Boone’s Sandvig erupted in the second half ending with a team best 18 points while also leading the conferences best rebounding team with 7 on the night.

The Tiger boys contest was a mirror image of the girls game as head coach Aaron Mager found his team down after one quarter 16-22. Thanks to shooting  6/7 from field goal range after two quarters and and 6 of 11 from the perimeter in the first half, ADM earned their way to a 36-32 halftime lead. Interestingly enough, the Tigers had just three players score in the first half but that was all they needed as Payton Conrad, Tajen Ross, and Matt Larsen combined for those 36 points. The bulk of those came by way of a monster first half for Tajen Ross putting up a season high 22 first half points. The Tigers then added some padding to their 4 point first half lead ending in a 9 point 55-46 lead after three quarters. That then led into a back and forth 4th quarter where the Tigers were forced to win the game from the free throw line after being sent to the charity stripe 17 times in the fourth quarter alone. Despite 8 second half points Tajen Ross led the team in scoring with 30 points followed by Matt Larsen with 15 points. Ethan Lewis eclipsed his points per game averaging notching 21 for the contest.

With the loss the Lady Tigers now see their record drop to 5-8 overall and 3-4 inside conference while the boys squad picked up their 6th overall and 4th conference win with their victory. Next up for both Tiger teams will be another home stand Tuesday, welcoming in the Mustangs and Fillies of Dallas Center-Grimes.
