It’s the middle of the high school basketball season and teams want to play. On the other hand, no one can control the weather. Greene County is hoping to host North Polk (Alleman) in the middle school gym in Jefferson tonight in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader. The Rams were iced out of girls and boys basketball last night vs. Winterset, and also had the Jan. 10 doubleheader with PCM postponed.
Greene County is coming off a split of two games on Jan. 13 in Jefferson vs. CMB (Maxwell). The Raiders won the girls’ game, 57-37, while the Rams won the boys’ contest 93-62.
In the boys’ contest, Ram senior Trey Tucker became the all-time leading scorer among all boys who have ever played for Jefferson, Jefferson-Scranton, or Greene County. He scored 39 on Friday and now has 1,540, surpassing the previous best of 1,538 scored by 1998 Jefferson-Scranton High School graduate Adam Jones.
Tonight’s games are scheduled for broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage starts at 5:30 p.m. with the girls playing at six o’clock, and the boys to follow.
