Back in action tonight goes the Lady Tiger basketball team as they take a quick reprieve from conference play by taking on former conference rival Dallas Center-Grimes.
ADM embarks on their third straight home game tonight as they take on the Fillies in a game with many story-lines to it. While the Lady Tigers have managed just 2 wins in the past nine seasons against the Fillies, these two teams have played a handful of times in the post season where ADM most recently spoiled a post season run for Dallas Center-Grimes last year with a one point win.
In last year’s playoff game, ADM utilized stellar defensive play to come away with a last second victory, holding the Fillies to almost a full 10 points under their season average. Tonight, they will look to implement a similar game plan utilizing great defensive play that has held 5 teams this season under their points per game averages. The Lady Tigers may not drum up exceptional defense from blocking ability, but their speed and quickness have allowed them to accumulate a conference third best 128 steals on the season.
The defensive play has certainly what’s been keeping the Lady Tigers afloat in the tight RRC race but as head coach Rick Dillinger told Raccoon Valley Radio after Friday’s contest, they now need to learn how to score.
“We have to improve our offense right now. On defense we’ve added different pieces and parts and the kids are buying in and starting to understand and we did some film work that really helped us understand more about the game. We’re making progress, we’ve just got to learn how to score,” explained coach Dillinger.
The Lady Tigers seek to get back to scoring 49 points per game the way they did at this point last season, and it will start against the Fillies in a post season rematch tonight beginning with pregame coverage at 5:45 pm which you can hear on K107.9 FM and online at raccoonvalleyradio.com.
