If the May 2nd bond referendum to build a new law enforcement center in Dallas County passes, the County has decided what they will do with the current facility.
“Once the county hit 82,000 in population, they were required by law to build another court room. My understanding is instead of moving the elected officials out of the courthouse, they will just build a new courtroom in the current facility I’m at now.”
That’s Sheriff Chad Leonard who says he feels this is a very good idea.
“So if I do have to transport people in from this facility to the new facility, they’ll just go into an existing cell, step out and do their criminal court process, get back in to a cell, get back into the squad car and go back to the new facility.
Dallas County residents will be asked to pass a $22.9 million bond on May 2nd.
