The Carnegie Library Museum in Perry is now being managed by a new group.
The City Council approved an agreement with Hometown Heritage at their meeting last week.
City Administrator Sven Peterson says it has been in the works for quite some time.
“Our Carnegie Library Museum is probably the most finely restored Carnegie Library in the world. For that to only be open a few hours a week, at the grace of our volunteers, I don’t feel that’s doing our building a good enough service. This will allow the building to be open at least five days a week and hopefully the volunteers can continue to keep it open on the weekends for weekend visitors.”
Peterson thanks the Carnegie Library Museum volunteers who helped maintain the building and find a real purpose and meaning for the space.
