Tuesday night’s girl/boy basketball doubleheader in Des Moines vs. Saydel was postponed due to weather, and now the Greene County teams look to Friday and two games with South Hamilton in Jewell. The Hawks are one of three teams the Greene County girls have wins over this season, while the Greene County boys lost to SH by four points last month in Jefferson.
Coach Dean Lyons girls’ team is 3-13 overall and 2-9 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. The Rams will be looking to snap an eight-game losing streak.
The Rams will be looking to gain a share of first place in the boys’ HOIAC standings. Coach Chris Nelson’s team is one game back of the Hawks at 8-2 in the league and they are 9-5 overall. South Hamilton’s only loss this season is by one point at Gilbert. The first meeting with the Rams is their only other game decided by four or fewer points.
