The ACGC Charger basketball team entered the night last night with 2 wins out of the past four games and they were looking to continue the hot streak as they hosted Woodward Academy.

It was the very definition of a back and forth game with multiple lead changes throughout but unfortunately for the Chargers a late 10 point lead vanished and the Chargers would fall in a heart breaker 46-42.

If ever there was a question about resilience for the Charger boys, they dashed all of that last night finding themselves down 10-15 after one quarter only to erupted on a 13-8 second quarter run to end the first half all tied up 23-23. The Chargers kept up the surge holding Woodward Academy to just 6 third quarter points and adding 14 of their own into the fourth quarter. All was seemingly going in the right direction for the Chargers who held a 10 point lead inside the final quarter but what went well through three quarters did not in the fourth as ACGC was outscored 17-5, watching their lead vanish into a 4 point deficit.

For the second straight game ACGC had two Chargers in double figures led by Colton Sargent leading the way with 14 points with 6 rebounds. He was followed up by Quynton Younker connecting on 10 points while hauling in a team leading 7 rebounds.

With the loss ACGC unfortunately drops to 2-14 with a conference mark of 2-11.

It’s a quick turn around yet again for the Chargers who will hit the road Friday night in Des Moines Christian high school taking on the Lions. It will be game two of a girl/boy double header tipping off at 7:30 pm.
