Local crews in Greene County continue their efforts to remove snow from area roadways.
Greene County Secondary Road Foreman Tanner Stauffer says their 12 plow trucks have been treating the county’s paved roads since 5am and their 12 maintainers started plowing the gravel roads at 7am. He adds that there have been no complications and everything has gone smoothly with removing the heavy snow from all county roads. He expects crews to remain out for the rest of the day today.
Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan says they’ve been out since 1am plowing all the roads in the City. They were finished plowing all the residential streets before 7am. He points out that since they were able to clear the roads of snow from curb to curb, residents can park again on the streets. However, if there’s more than one-half inch of snowfall today the City’s snow ordinance will go back into effect and vehicles must be removed from the roads once again. Crews will remove the leftover snow in the medians around the downtown square from 2 to 6am tomorrow morning.
Jefferson has received about four inches of snowfall so far.
The winter storm warning remains in effect for Greene County until 6pm.
