Sierra Community Theatre LogoA reminder that three movies will be shown for free starting this weekend at the Sierra Community Theatre in Jefferson.

It is the annual classics movie week featuring Casablanca, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and E.T.-Extra Terrestrial. The 1942 movie, Casablanca, starring Humphrey Bogart will be shown at 7pm this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, along with a 2pm showing this Saturday and Sunday. Willy Wonka will be next Monday, January 30th and January 31st at 2 and 7pm. Rounding out the classics movie week is E.T. on Wednesday, February 1st and February 2nd at 7pm, with an additional showing at 2pm on Wednesday.

Greene County Chamber Office Coordinator Sheilah McGregor Pound encourages everyone to take advantage of the free movie week.

“I think with one of the many recreation and enjoyable things that one can do, it’s helpful to bring people up town (and) the theater is in good shape. We have the sponsors that take care of this and their board are very willing to work at it and keep wanting to make it (look) new.”

Manager Dustin Gustoff says they’ve raised enough money to purchase a second popcorn machine and he reminds everyone that the concession stand will be open during the classics week to purchase drinks and food.
